I believe that a well-organized classroom is essential to student success. In my classroom, students will check in each morning and utilize their mailboxes for homework, take-home folders, and important messages.
I work in a large suburban public school that serves grades K-5.
The are many diverse needs in my population. Our school culture is very friendly and welcoming to everyone who visits our building. This helps our students feel supported in the school. Our students love our school and staff.
My Project
My students will use this mailbox to turn in their homework folders, collect mail to take home, and collect papers that have been graded. This will be used to pass back materials and papers and save instructional time by not passing it directly to students. This mailbox can be used year after year.
This will help keep my students and classroom organized, saving vital instructional time for learning rather than instructional processes.
Most school mail centers do not have more than 28 spaces and are unable to accommodate the large class sizes that are common at my school. This mailbox will have a space for all students and make the school day less chaotic and bridge better connections with parents and homes.
