Classroom Literature to Support Mindfulness Lessons

My Students

My students are eager to learn and want to do their very best. They have lots of energy and do their best to show up with a smile even when faced with challenges.

In the classroom they are hard workers but many of them balance the stresses of life on top of showing up for learning because of additional responsibilities to help their families and take care of themselves.

They deserve the very best opportunity to approach learning with all of the tools possible to make them successful both academically and as engaged members of society.

My Project

This collection of books titles is integral to lessons I have developed for my students this coming year and beyond. Titles such as 'Mindful Kids: 50 Activities for Calm, Focus and Peace' and 'Heart Bubbles: Exploring Compassion with Kids' are a fundamental piece of these lessons. Books and stories are a proven way to provide a connection to big ideas for kids and will help teach and instill the core concepts of mindfulness.

My kids need to be fully available for learning when they are in the classroom and in an effort to teach the whole child, my kids need to learn the tools to regulate their emotions.

I have created a curriculum around developing mindfulness and emotion management that will use each of these books.
