My Project
When I requested light filters for my class of 23 students, I was fortunate enough to get my project funded. After I installed them (it was so easy, they just stick on with a magnet!), my colleagues would always remark about how much better it felt in my classroom when they walked in, with one teacher even noting that her headaches would feel less intense in my room!
I am submitting this project on behalf of our entire first grade team (per their request), to get the light filters in all of our classrooms.
This project will impact over 100 students in first grade, five awesome classroom teachers, and all of the wonderful specialists who work with us.
Our classrooms have very bright fluorescent lights. By covering the harsh fluorescent lighting with these filters, we can create an environment that is better suited for learning. We want our first graders to feel relaxed and calm while they are at school. Many of our young students struggle with attention/focus and sensory issues, which the flickering lights can exacerbate. These lights will make a huge difference to our students' learning experience in so many ways (socially, emotionally, academically)!
