This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school I work for is a Title 1 school located in the Central Phoenix area.

I have yet to meet my students as it is currently summer break, but I'm sure they will each be amazing in their own special way. Furthermore, I absolutely can't wait to meet them in a few weeks!

My Project

My students will be using the carpet area as a comfortable space to sprawl out and read a good book in the classroom library area. They will also gather to the carpet for read aloud story times as well as morning meetings, circle time, and small group work. The library space provides many language acquisition opportunities for students. For example, speaking and listening skills during our morning meetings and circle time.

A classroom carpet will improve the library area in the classroom as it will be an irresistible space that students will be able to comfortably gather and read.

Reading is one of the most important skills a child can have as it provides the opportunity to explore and learn through various pieces of literature.
