This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have students who are hungry for quality books they can take home and read. We are contending with phones. I want them to experience reaching for a book, instead of watching a video. They need strong, relevant stories to keep them engaged and to promote literacy at home. Many are non-readers and have below-level reading scores. Perhaps overhauling my classroom library with newer books, and resonating classics, will help me instill my love of reading onto my own students. I chose hardcovers to preserve these stories for my future students, as well. I will recommend books, have them read at home, and ultimately assign a book review project when they finish. Thank you for helping my students!
