Help me give my students a chance tor research and read actual books in class.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Zickgraf's classroom raised $545
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds including immigrants, refugees and sons, and daughters of parents that wanted to give their children a chance to learn in a smaller school. A majority of the students speak more than one language and are on a free or reduced lunch program but that does not stop them from learning.
During the school shut down last spring when attendance was optional and the work was not counted towards graduation, most still logged in daily and were turning in assignments up to the last day.
The one thing the school and class lacks is a library for them to learn the joy of reading.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I am striving to create. My classroom library will be a place that my students really enjoy. Currently, the students do not have an option for independent reading or to pull a book out to read when they complete assignments early.
Even though I teach History I want my students to be able to experience the joy of reading.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. The students will be able to read and research using books instead of just a textbook or computer. Hopefully, some will discover a love of reading books that cannot be replicated on a computer or phone screen.
The school year will include at least four group presentations on a variety of topics and the ability for groups to read and research a variety of topics that interest them instead of the few examples provided by their textbooks.
