My Students
The majority—nearly 80%—of the students at my school, come from low-income homes and are dealing with some sort of trauma in their lives, yet they do not let that stifle their spirit. Many of my students see school as their safe space and desire an engaging education in a welcoming environment.
My students have such high hopes and aspirations for their future and I want to do everything in my power to help them achieve those dreams.
I constantly emphasize the importance of a good education and a solid understanding of the English content area in order to achieve those goals and dreams. Students in my class know that their outcome will reflect the work they put in and will hopefully carry this though to their life outside of school.
My Project
I want to provide my students with a classroom library. I constantly strive to inspire my students to read and want to encourage life-long readers, but that task seems to be getting more difficult with every year. Please help me provide my students with amazing works of art to read as well as an aesthetically pleasing way to peruse the choices.
Our classrooms are only as inviting and inspirational as we make them and I want to encourage my students to be bigger than their situation.
It is up to me to create an environment that I think will motivate my students to strive for greatness and I cannot do it alone. I have students that enter our building leaving very difficult situations behind, and if I can encourage them to take advantage of the escape that literature can provide, I will do everything in my power to make that happen.
