This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
First grade is tough, help us become fluent readers!!!
My students are facing many challenges, one of them being that they are LAUSD students.
Our district is facing a financial crisis, but my students should not pay the consequences.
My first graders are also facing academic challenges, they are at the intensive academic level. However, they are enthusiastic, eager, and have a positive attitude towards learning.
My Project
My 1st graders are learning basic concepts such as letter recognition, letter sounds, and blending so they can become fluent readers. The set I am requesting will help my students attain reading fluency by learning new vocabulary, sight words, rhyming, and sounds. In order for students to learn new concepts, they have to be exposed to these concepts in different ways. The literature set will allow my students to have fun while learning.
When I think about my students and their many individual academic needs, I can't help but think of the tremendous impact the literature center will have on them.
They will be able to experience the curriculum in fun and different ways; and because of the many components in the literature set, ALL my students will benefit from it.
