Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fifth grade students live in a low income area in south western New Jersey. Some of my students receive free breakfast in the morning and most students receive free or reduced lunch in the afternoons. Some of them come from broken homes and face many challenges. Although their lives can be challenging, they still come to school excited to learn daily! My students deserve to come to their happy space each day. I want their classroom to excite them!
My Project
Currently, my students lack a proper classroom library with fiction and nonfiction books. I would like my students to get excited to read and enjoy working in that area of the classroom. I want to make a safe and enjoyable spot for the students in the classroom to want to read. This area will also serve for some group work when students are able to work freely around the classroom. The only thing currently in the room is a small older library and rug so I need your help to make the perfect spot for my students to find their love for reading!
