This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is a Title I school with an increasing number of students who come from low socio-economic backgrounds where all students qualify for free lunch. My students are amazing students who strive to be the best in all academic areas. They eager to learn and work hard each day.
Because of their unique ways of learning, it is essential to have a variety of teaching tools to ignite curiosity and help develop a love and passion for reading.
My students are eager learners and deserve the opportunity to prepare themselves for the future by exposure to supplemental text to increase their reading and comprehension skills. If funded, you will not only be helping students increase reading and comprehension. But assist in fostering a love of reading. Chapter books play a crucial role in third-grade classrooms because they help students develop essential reading skills and foster a love for literature. Third graders are transitioning from shorter picture books to longer texts.
Having chapter books accessible in our classroom library would
improve reading stamina, enhance comprehension, expand vocabulary as well develop character and empathy. My students would be able to participate in book clubs within our classroom with peers where students can discuss the book, share opinions, and make recommendations. Building a deeper connection to the material will also strengthen fluency, confidence, and comprehension. which would help to inspire curiosity and promote creativity.
