it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Reading is an essential part to a child’s development. Teaching TK, I am often the students first introduction to reading. Because of this, I want to upgrade my classroom library so that it is engaging, accessible, and comfortable for our youngest learners. The TK students always come into school so excited and ready to learn. I want to make sure my library is ready for the students as well. These materials will create more comfortable spaces for my students to sit and it provides a wider selection of books that the kids can choose to read.
In this project, I have chosen books that represent a diverse group of people, help teach the curriculum, and make the kids smile.
Every child should be exposed to books that represent their culture as well as cultures that are different. With this project, I will have even more diverse books to add to my library. One effective way to teach our curriculum is through stories. The kids are often introduced or taught different concepts through a read aloud. These books will help enhance the curriculum and make it come alive for the students. Lastly, it is important to teach kids that reading can be fun! I wanted to have some books that will make the kids smile and laugh so they can fall in love with reading.
