This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
To say that our students have had to overcome a lot over this past year is an understatement. Not only have they had to deal with normal societal and economic pressures, but they've had to do so during a worldwide pandemic. Since returning to school, they are stronger, resilient, and more ready to take on the world!
Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district.
Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunches. Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.
My Project
These books will enhance the print-rich classroom that I have created. My classroom library is a place that my students enjoy getting lost in books. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. They have recommended the books that they would love to have in the classroom.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
