My Students
Welcome to my classroom! I teach two half-day Kindergarten classes each day. My students come to school for a little over two hours every day. We learn a lot in the short amount of time we have together. We devote every minute of every day we have together to trying our best and always learning new skills.
My students come to school full of energy and ready to learn.
They love being able to do hands-on activities to help them master the skills they need in a short amount of time we have together. My students are always willing to try new things and aren't afraid to take risks when it comes to their learning.
My Project
My goal is to have all of my Kindergarteners fall in with reading. One way I try to achieve that goal is through my classroom library. Unfortunately, my classroom library isn't appealing to my students. The bookshelf I have is too tall for my students and they can't see the top shelf. The book boxes are falling apart so when they try to take a book out or put it back the book boxes fall apart even more.
My classroom library needs an update to help my students fall in love with reading.
My project is to get a few bookshelves that are shorter so my students can see all of the books that are available for them to read. The new book bins will study enough for my students to look through the books, pick one or a few they want, and put it back without the book bins getting ruined. To make the classroom library more appealing I want to get a rug along with fun chairs they can sit on while they are reading.
My students will be able to go to the new and improved library anytime they finish their assignment early, during centers, indoor recess, or anytime they have a few extra minutes. My goal is for them to want to go to the classroom library and develop that love of reading and with these few changes, I know that can happen!
