My Project

Historical fiction brings history to life—it transforms abstract dates and events into vivid, relatable stories that foster empathy, critical thinking, and curiosity.

I am seeking to build a classroom library centered around historical fiction from early American history to deepen my students’ understanding of our nation’s origins in an engaging and meaningful way.

Many students struggle to connect with traditional textbooks or informational texts. By introducing well-researched and age-appropriate historical fiction, students will see history through the eyes of characters their age, navigating real events like the American Revolution, colonial life, Native American experiences, and the founding of the United States.

By investing in high-quality historical fiction from early American history, I aim to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and promote empathy among my students. These books will not only enhance their academic growth but also help them develop a well-rounded perspective on the beginnings of our country.
