Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently a kindergarten teacher and I teach all subjects. I teach in an inner city school in the Bronx, where 98% of the students receive free lunch. In my school our main focus is on getting these new students to read. The school supplies us with as much as possible,and over the years I have bought some books. Without proper storage I am only able to put out a small amount of books at a time. The desks and chairs are not the right size for our little ones. The storage cabinets are old and falling apart.
My vision is to make our classroom library a welcoming place for our children. I wish to have a small table, chairs, pillows, a rug, book storage shelves and bins for the books.
I believe that if children see this welcoming place they will come to love reading. It will be a comfortable and enjoyable place where they could see all the books they love to read.
