My Students
I want to expose my students to a variety of choices so they become passionate about reading. I am excited for a school year that will turn learners into leaders.
I work in a urban setting that is high poverty.
These students do not have exposure to a variety of books. This is a co teaching classroom with special education, including reading levels from 1st through 5th grade. There's a group of ESL students whom English is not their first language. The classroom is a coteaching classroom with both regular education and special education teacher. We also receive support from an ESL teacher. The students are in great need.
My Project
We created a reading nook in our classroom which will be part of the daily routine. Students will learn to chose books that are on their level and our goal is for every student to have 5 books they rotate using literacy skills taught in the classroom.
These donations will provide resources for underprivileged students who deserve an enriched education that will allow them an opportunity to create a better future.
Exposure to a variety of choices allows students to find an book of interest which will have a positive influence on their self motivated learning.
