This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are 18 Pre-K students in a Title I school in the Bronx. Many of them speak a language other than English and I try to use their language knowledge to build a community of diverse learners. Pre-K is their first introduction to the world of school and I enjoying showing them all it has to offer!
Reading is very important at the Pre-K age because it allows children to build vocabulary, language literacy, gain knowledge, as well as improve their thinking and conversation skills.
The lending library will give my students the opportunity to read with their families at home. The books chosen include wordless books for children to develop their imagination, vocabulary and storytelling skills, as well as books translated into Spanish to accommodate families whose home language is not English.
