Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Fun, fun, fun! I have seen this game in action. I put in the content area information and the students will be engaged in learning or reviewing the material for a full hour. They will compete against each other (and other classes at our school) to answer the questions.
I strive to offer an academically rigorous, yet fun, multi-sensory, creative and engaging learning environment for my students.
I truly see the beauty and potential of every child in my care and work diligently to maximize student achievement and create respectful citizens of our earth.
My school is a Title I, inner-city school, with transient population of 25% Hispanic students and 74% African American students. At least 95% receive free or reduced lunch. We have very limited resources, and a largely inactive PTA. Teachers at my school spend a fortune each year providing materials that we consider essential to the learning process.
My Project
This classroom jeopardy kit is all I need to bring those boring SOL objectives to life. The students will be able to compete against each other and other first grade classes to answer questions. They will be fully engaged and study to win. They will work out math problems in their journals as fast as they can in order to be the first one to push the button on the remote. Best of all, they will work together in friendly teams to help each other find the correct answers.
Teachers must do everything they can today to maximize student engagement.
This is an amazing tool that I plan on sharing with other teachers at my school. I have seen it in action and know my kids will go bonkers for it. I plan on mainly using it to enrich my math instruction.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
