Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am working on positive behaviors this year by rewarding the students that are being good and following the rules. I am doing a reward system. Based on last year, the students responded really well with food. I always hear, "I'm hungry, do you have any food?" Which is why I am giving them ways to earn food.
I also work with special needs students, and food is a great motivator for them, especially those with ADHD.
With ADHD, it impacts a student's dopamine system. This means that when a student with ADHD consumes sugar, it can cause their levels to even out. Meaning, that they can actually focus better with these sugars. Which is why I put a lot of candy on here.
Last year, I spent a lot of money on food and candy for them. But I just can't keep doing it. I love the effects it gives them but I just can't afford to keep doing it. I also loved seeing how they would work hard to earn their treats. So I really want to keep that going in this coming year. I would really appreciate some help so I can keep this up.
