Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a SPED math classroom. I have a system where I give out tickets, and then the kids can cash in the tickets to get prizes! With my ticket system, if they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, a kid can get a prize every class.
Having this system has really helped with behaviors.
Kids with disabilities need to see an immediately reward, for this system to work.
This is my second year doing this incentive program, and it has worked so well! Their behaviors have diminished, and I love seeing how excited the kids get when they receive a ticket because they know they are getting a prize they want!
I am teaching more students this year than I ever had. So my incentives has diminished quite a bit. I really want to keep up this system in my classroom, but unfortunately, I cannot without these.
My students love the "store" and it's teaching them how to "pay" for things they want. This year, my kids are obsessed with cookies, chips, and stress balls. So I'm hoping to restock this for them, since I am all out of these items.
