Help me give my students a classroom in a bag! My students will be learning at home either full time, or every other week. Each bag will contain materials necessary to complete activities while learning at home.
I am a special education teacher in a Title 1 school located in New York City. I am an 8:1:1 classroom, located within a community public middle school. My students, ages 11-14, have been classified on the autism spectrum. They have a variety of learning styles and all require different materials to help them learn. However, they are all visual and kinesthetic learners and benefit from hands on materials.
My students are full of energy and they love to learn!
Our school is a center based learning environment which allows the students to learn about the world through their senses. My goal, in my classroom, is to provide each student with the materials necessary to overcome their disabilities to become independent life long learners!
My Project
I am requesting large bags that I will fill with materials necessary to complete activities while at home. Supplies such as construction paper, scissors, markers and glue will be used to create crafts related to our units of study. I am requesting plastic containers that I will fill with hands on materials that will be used during our math lessons. My students learn best when using coins or counters to add. I am requesting dry erase boards and dry erase pockets which will allow students to complete worksheets and activities multiple times.
