Classroom Games to Promote Inclusion and Cooperation

Help me give my students cooperative and problem solving games to play during inside recess and free time.

My Students

My group of third graders is a great group. They consist of 2 identified ESL students (1 who came from Columbia in July of this year), 2 students who receive special education services, and lots of sweet and caring attitudes. Our school is part of the Golden Gate Kids Movement and we have a pledge that we try to recite every day that says: "I will smile at others. I will be a true friend. I will treat others and myself with kindness and respect. I will be in charge of my own happiness. I will make someone's day. I will INCLUDE everyone. I will be a problem solver. I will be my best self. I WILL BE THAT PERSON!"

My students are working to include others and treat others with kindness and respect.

They are learning how to play with others and work through problems. Our goals are to help everyone feel important and valued as well as helping them play and work peacefully together.

My Project

Our school is promoting kindness and inclusion to help students be their best selves. During inside recess, students play board and card games with one another. My current board games are destroyed after 15 years and there are so many new cooperative games. We need new games and more variety.

With these new games, my students will be able to include others, learn problem solving skills, and practice good sportsmanship during inside recesses and free time.

Instead of the students fighting over the same games or feeling left out, everyone should be able to find a game to play together.
