Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My class of 28 fourth graders are an ethnically diverse, Title 1 community of learners from a variety of backgrounds. Most students are from low socio-economic immigrant families where few independent reading opportunities are available, and little reading support or encouragement is available outside the classroom. By providing comfortable, flexible seating options with floor seats around the classroom, and an engaging texts to read, I hope to build a love of reading. My hope is to build life-long readers by providing comfortable reading opportunities for students to sit and read away from their desks.
More than half of students from low‑income households
