it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The art supplies and Cricut machine will provide my students with autism the tools to create meaningful, hands-on projects tailored to their unique learning needs. Art fosters sensory engagement, fine motor skill development, and creative expression, all of which are critical for their growth. The Cricut machine, in particular, will allow us to personalize projects, such as Lunar New Year crafts, making the experience more engaging and accessible. By working on activities like creating custom decorations, cards, and art pieces, students will not only learn about cultural traditions but also develop their focus, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
The primary goal of this project is to provide students with autism a platform for self-expression and a way to engage with diverse cultural traditions, like Lunar New Year, in a meaningful and accessible way.
By integrating art into their learning environment, I aim to create a space where they feel supported, included, and empowered. The Cricut machine will enhance this experience by enabling us to customize projects to suit each student’s needs, ensuring every child feels a sense of pride and ownership over their creations. This project will also help promote social-emotional learning, teamwork, and sensory regulation, skills that are crucial for their overall development.
What makes my students special is their unique way of viewing the world and expressing themselves. They are creative, curious, and full of potential, with strengths that often shine brightest through non-traditional learning methods like art. Art projects that celebrate cultural traditions, such as Lunar New Year, provide an opportunity to embrace and highlight their individuality while fostering a sense of community. The Cricut machine will add a layer of personalization that helps each student feel valued and seen, turning simple projects into meaningful, confidence-building experiences.
