As a child, have you ever wanted to create a perfect picture? You know the colors you want and you march up to your teacher all excited. Then the teacher tells you,"I'm sorry, I don't have that." Our classroom desperately needs more art materials to enhance all of our students' artistic endeavors!
We have 25 energetic and inquisitive second grade students in our classroom.
In addition, they are very artistic. They all love to color, draw, and paint. We are located in a high need area in New York City. Over 75% of our students receive free lunches.
My Project
Again, our students love to color, draw, and paint. With very little materials, they are able to create some beautiful and inspiring art work. It is a great motivational tool so we have been trying to incorporate art into lessons whether it is Math or Reading. But, the important word is "trying." Our students work with broken crayons/colored pencils, dried out markers, and a very limited amount of paper. Most of the time, we have to cut the paper in half to accommodate all our students. With these materials, we will be able to help our students grow as artists as well as students. It is a way to motivate them to do more! We can also embark on new artistic/academic endeavors with these materials. This would include an art show for our classroom and creation of models of different animals and New York City landmarks.
It is so important to reach our students whatever we can.
We need to enhance their educational experience and motivate students to do more. These art materials will help with this goal. With your help, we can reach our goal to supply our students with art materials.
