Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school with an accelerated track for high achievers and a robust arts program including a steel pan band. The school admits students from across Brooklyn and Queens and serves grades 5 to 8. Most students arrive in sixth grade, but families concerned about competition for good middle schools may want to get a leg up by applying for fifth grade.

My students are motivated, self-driven, and are always excited about learning mathematics on a daily basis.

The highest achievers are placed in an accelerated program after sixth grade, which includes honors classes in seventh grade and Regents courses in algebra and living environment in eighth grade.

My students are always out performing their peers in other classes based on the engaging, activity based, rich curriculum that fosters critical thinking and allow my students to use the inquiry approach to investigate math task given.

My Project

Students in my classroom are always engaged, excited, and eager to learn and are always making real-world connections using mathematical sound ideas. Having these supplies, like these lap boards and dry erase markers, Electric School Pencil Sharpener, Staples Copy Paper, and achievement certificates students will be motivated to demonstrate their true potential and have a growth mindset knowing that these supplies will assist in achieving their goals. For example, students will use dry erase boards to make their thinking visible on a daily basis, and the paper will be used to make copies of assessments, performance tasks and provide students with copies of teachers' notes.

I believe strongly in rewarding students for their accomplishments, certificates of excellence will be used to reward students for their achievement in Mathematics throughout the year.

Our portfolios that were funded earlier and the HP Printer will make my students have all the necessary supplies for a great school year.
