My students need basic audio/CD supplies. Also, supplies are needed so each child has a unique way to learn using visual, manipulative, or auditory learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an inner city elementary school. More than half of the children in my class have special needs. My students don't receive basic supplies from home and I have personally supplied their material. We are working on our last writing project, comparing stories, and need basic material for it.
I have the privilege to work at a wonderful inner city elementary school which in a Title One community.
The median income is below $44,000 per year and 18.8% of the city is foreign born. More than half of my students have either a learning disability or special need. The classroom has many English Language Learners and the use of technology in the classroom is very beneficial to enhance the students learning. The students are in need of computer head phones so they can hear the proper pronunciation of words and acquire phonetic sounds. CD/DVD media allows the students to acquire the skills in a fun and entertaining learning environment so they can focus on the lesson.
My Project
By using a computer, ELL students can learn by hearing, seeing and using programs to help build their English fluency. A printer is needed to allow the students who aren't able to write free hand, the ability to use type written composition to acquire the English composition and then have a printed product. Also, the students will be able to download and graph various classroom projects. Technology skills are essential in future success both within and outside the classroom. My class has little to no technology and any little bit can help my students be more successful learners. A computer that lacks a printer resource limits our ability to use all instructional software applications. The students will be constructing projects and I will be making visuals for them to learn about the vocabulary incorporating the use of a head phone station, laminator and printer. These items are essential for effective English language acquisition and an important aspect to their learning.
Technology will allow the students to use the computer to reinforce classroom skills.
The students will have a visual to look at and they will be able to listen individual programs at their learning level. More importantly, this will augment classroom instruction by providing an additional learning resource to the students. Since technology is a part of all our daily lives, a classroom that lacks this is nothing more than severely antiquated. Any assistance provided is greatly appreciated.
