Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are 24 students in my Kindergarten ICT classroom. My students are from low-income families. Many of the students have limited resources at home. Most of the students rely on school resources to learn their academics. Parents often borrow supplies from the school and classrooms to further assist their children's education at home.
Many students have IEPs, special services, and ENL services.
Since our students have a variety of needs, we want to create a welcoming and warm environment for our students to learn in. Our students benefit from routines and organization so they can be comfortable and ready to learn.
My Project
After being in school for a couple months, my co-teacher and I have noticed our students have many different needs that we need help to support them in. Many of our students have not been in school last year and it has had a major effect on their socio-emotional learning as well as their academic learning.
We need more materials to differentiate lessons to support all students!
We need more laminating sheets and center materials to create academic activities that are engaging to our SPED learners who has shown significant difficulties in their return to school. We also need some differentiated seating for our students for them to engage in whole group learning. With these materials, we can allow all students to learn in our classroom at their own pace.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
