Classroom Environment Basics!

My Students

My students include 8th graders whose families have chosen to attend a charter school focusing on arts and personalized learning. They come from all around the southern areas of San Diego County.

I love knowing that I'm building the next generation of artists, performers, and thinkers.

I want to be able to provide them each with the environment and resources that they need to grow and thrive.

There are so many students that can be truly engaged in their learning thanks to arts integration. Some of my students are wonderfully talented at fine arts, dance, or music, and some of them are just beginning to cultivate an interest. My goal is to help each of them reach their fullest potential by constantly integrating art into their learning.

My 8th-grade class is a self-enclosed classroom. I teach math, science,history, and English, but I am also the supervisor for our Board Games & RPG Club as well as Student Council.

My Project

I purchased a couple of couches for my classroom a couple of years ago to give my students some choices of alternative seating. Naturally, being middle schoolers, the couches get messed up a bit each year, so I buy a new couch cover for each school year. I have also included some cheap smart lights in this bundle which will give more balanced lighting options to the students. I'll probably end up buying these myself if they aren't funded through donors choose.

Teachers spend over 500$ a year on their classroom and kids, and it makes a big difference for us when the community helps out.

Ultimately, I'm going to make sure my students have what they need to have a comfortable learning environment, but I really appreciate any support. A student's learning environment has a huge effect on their desire to come to school, and their ability to engage in the lessons.
