My students need an assortment of motivating items (books, card tricks, puzzles, activity kits) for purchase with their classroom economy "earnings."

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Got motivation? My kids sure will as I implement my first-ever classroom economy this year! It's going to be a blast earning classroom "money" for homework done, desks cleaned, and jobs performed while learning about economics and the importance of money management. I am hoping that this project will teach my fifth graders responsibility and self-regulation, and their reward will be the ability to buy things in our classroom store!
I am requesting a wide variety of fun kid-approved materials such as puzzles, games, and books that will reward my students for a job well done - and inspire them to save and budget well. Ideally, our classroom store will contain items for every price point, from "I forgot to save my "money" this week" to "I've had my eye on that for a while!"
I would characterize my school as high-need, so any help given this project will free up my own money to purchase other supplies, like books, furniture, and more classroom store supplies. Now, at first glance, this proposal may not seem academically-oriented. Consider, however, all the things my students will learn: how to balance a checkbook and manage "money," that actions have consequences, that some decisions mean you can't have other things, that society works best when we work best. That's powerful stuff, and the sort of thing kids need to learn for the "real world." Thank you for considering adding to that experience.
