I teach 8th grade General Science to five classes in a suburban school in New York. One of my classes has a special education focus where there is a second teacher in the classroom teaching with me collaboratively.
Since there is not enough funding for science supplies, science classes in my school tend to have enough equipment for just the basic of supplies.
I am asking for a forensic science class kit that can be reusable year after year as my students study their genetics unit. With this kit, students will learn about DNA and cell structure in five different meaningful hands-on activities that promote critical thinking skills as they solve the crime and identify their suspect. This will make learning about DNA more engaging as well as showing how understanding about DNA can have real life application.
Your help will help my students get a real feel for what it takes to be a forensic scientist as well as learn genetics in an exciting way.
