This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are future engineers, designers and entrepreneurs. They are makers who love to design and develop their ideas to help solve problems in the world. They are artists who love to draw, paint, build and perform. At our middle school in Jamaica Queens, some of our students may not have access to technology at home. We want to make sure our students know that there is no limit to what they can do when they work hard and believe in themselves.
My Project
The learning environment is very important for students in middle school. How a classroom looks can help students to be excited about learning and focus in the classroom. What teachers might think is a good learning environment for students might not be the same as what students think.
Instead of me decorating my classroom I want my students to!
Students will design and create decorations for their classroom with the Cricut cutter. Students will think about their learning environment and will create decorations that support their learning. Making and decorating the classroom themselves will give students ownership of their learning environment.
