Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is located in the poorest congressional district in the nation, and all students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. The school is predominately Latino and African American. Thirty percent of the students are English language learners, and some are the first of their families to graduate. Despite all of this, 100% of our graduating seniors are college or career bound.

Our students should have the same opportunities as any other student in the country.

They work hard to succeed without letting anything get in their way. As a community school, each year our graduation rate has increased, and we want to make their learning as meaningful and purposeful as possible.

In the center of our classroom, we have our class computer attached to the projector and the sound system. We use it every single day as we are doing our lessons. Unfortunately, the computer we've been using has become outdated and super slow. Having this new computer, will improve our lessons because our videos can run faster and the sound won't skip around anymore when the computer is buffering. This computer will become the new media hub of the classroom.
