This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Living in our current state of technology is exciting and beneficial in many ways. Unfortunately, many of my students do not have any type of technology at home. In our classroom we have 4 computers for 17 students which makes it difficult for them to access technology on a daily basis.

I have a wonderfully diverse classroom.

My students range from ages 6 to 9 and have their own unique challenges. About a third of my students are English Language Learners (ELL) and struggle in reading. Despite many of their home situations, my students come to school every day with smiles on their faces wanting to learn. They deserve the very best and I try everyday to give it to them.

My Project

The benefits my students would receive from this type of technology are almost endless! The portability of an iPad would allow my students to work in cooperative groups which is essential, especially in these younger students. My ELL students would have access to English learning apps that would enhance their overall reading and speaking abilities. This would also encourage all my students to partake in a technology that is new and exciting to them. A specific activity for all my students would be recording themselves reading and be able to watch themselves to enhance BASIC reading skills.

My goal for this project is to provide my students with multiple ways to explore technology and enhance reading.

My students would be engaged daily in various activities that would increase their existing love of learning.
