This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our second grade classroom does not have a computer. Yes, you read that right - in the 2013-2014 school year, we still don't have any computers! Even though being able to manipulate technology will be essential to their careers, my second graders don't have access to computers.

My second graders amaze me every day - they are inquisitive, kind, excited about school and learning, and they absolutely love technology.

I bring in my personal computer for them to use, and they eagerly wait until it is their computer day. Since my school is in a high need, low income area, many of them don't have consistent access to computers at home and have to go to the public library in order to use a computer.

My Project

My students need to learn how to use technology to be successful in the real world. Not only that, computers can help students to learn reading and math. Through interactive websites, games, and videos, my students could be exposed to a world of learning that is currently shut off to them because of their socioeconomic status. We would use the computers every day during literacy centers, math practice time, and choice time.
