The space I seek to create is where we will share the best of ourselves, inspirations, dreams, wishes, truths, and tales. My third graders live in an urban area and our school building is almost one hundred years old.
Seventy percent of my students are from low-income families and face many obstacles. They come to school needing rituals, routines, and a consistently safe place to learn to trust themselves and others so that they can learn and grow as individuals.
We need a meeting place rug. It will become the core of our day; the place where seeds are sown and missions are given. It will serve as our coming together place, our touchstone for reconnection, and our shared end of each day.
Your donation to create this space will help ensure that my students become lifelong learners and that every third grader in my classroom can feel safe and see themselves as a capable, contributing member of our learning community.
