This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are bright, compassionate learners who want to attend and graduate college but come from families where they are the first ones to go to college, and sometimes even the first to graduate high school. All of our students are females from a diverse background chosen to reflect the demographic of our city, rather than just one community. They know that they are fearlessly preparing for jobs that don't exist yet. Their passion, their strength are the reason I love teaching so much.

My Project

Everything I teach has real world application - students can go out an use their skills outside of my classroom right away. Unfortunately it is difficult to find coding resources that have that applicability for the grades I teach. Codesters is the first platform that I have seen that offers that in the form of python. They will learn the logic of a flexible language and then learn how to create games with python. Along the way, I will talk about how programming languages work, careers in computer science, and the reasons why we all need to learn how to code.
