My Project
Working in a Title 1 school has its challenges. Unfortunately, many students are displaced, or outright homeless, or for other reasons do not have the ability to charge their district supplied laptops when outside of school. Some students "forget" their chargers, have trouble using track pads, or have cracked screens that can hurt their fingers. These are some supplies to use in my classroom to help them overcome these obstacles.
By supplying students with chargers to use in class, paired with power strips that can be moved around the room, students get some problems solved.
Adding glow-in-the-dark tape helps reduce the risk of tripping, while also helping to identify which ones belong to my classroom.
Technology-wise, students have issues with using track pads, as well as touch screens with cracks that make them hard (and sometimes painful) to use. While we encourage getting insurance on the district-supplied laptops, some students still delay reporting damages, and having access to a mouse helps them complete work in class (especially since I teach ELA).
Additionally, I am looking to start a photography club next year, and these supplies will help students whose computers discharge throughout the day. Using a mouse will also help with photo-editing
