My Students
I love teaching, to every single student. I have felt called to teaching for as long as I can remember, it's truly where I feel most fulfilled. It has been such an honor serving in this field, and helping children see their potential. I have been blessed to meet incredible students along the way who have a great hunger to learn.
My students are smart, funny, kind, and compassionate; they are full of strength, and full of confidence.
I love seeing them grow in knowledge and in character as they learn more about the world around them.
They work hard at reaching their objectives, and never give up! They learn how to persevere through some of the deepest and darkest personal circumstances, all while working hard in class. I have a great admiration for my students, and feel so blessed to help contribute to their little lives, even if it's just a year at a time.
My Project
The purpose of a calming corner is for students to briefly get away from frustrating tasks or over-stimulating activities to calm down and regain focus. I have many students who need frequent breaks throughout the day, and struggle with impulsivity. I would love to create a space within our classroom environment with soothing materials and furnishings to help students de-escalate when they're upset. I chose specific sensory items like stress balls, and bead balls that are great for the fidgety student who might need a quick break. Toys such as the bubble motion timer that offers relaxation, and small furnishings like a table for my students to sit at will help a them feel cozy and relaxed so they can rejoin our class ready to go!
