In an ever changing world students are overwhelmed with busy schedules and chaotic situations. The area in which I teach many of the students are not safe and need relaxation tools and calming strategies to get through a school day. This will also allow them to learn more because they won’t be stressed or have anxiety.
Students need to feel calm in order to achieve higher learning!
This project is designed just for that. The rug will be used to designate a calming area when students are overwhelmed. The cleaning tool is to keep this area clean and sanitized. The chair bands will be used to give students a calming chance to move while I need them to be at their desks. These bands will help alleviate any anxiety and stress for the students without causing a disruption in the classroom.
This area will also be safe for students with disabilities to have an area they can call their own. Students can use this calming center, which includes the rug, chair bands, and cleaning tool, to decompress and still be mainstreamed with their classmates.
In addition, the timers can be used as a resource that students can visually use to assess their mental state and control the timing of re-entering the instruction timer.
