My students need an Elementary Math Calendar and an All About Today Activity Centers to incorporates both math and literacy in a daily routine that shows students how to apply their new knowledge to every day life.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being a contributing citizen means understanding the world around you. Learning about schedules and structures through calendar math help my students with learning disabilities learn critical organizational and self regulation skills.
My students are bright and energetic first graders.
Over half of my students are students with learning disabilities attending a large urban school in New York City. I have many English Language learners as well. My students show up to school every day ready to be challenged and make tremendous growth in order to catch up to their peers and set them up for success in second grade.
My Project
My students need an Elementary Math Calendar and an All About Today Activity Centers to incorporates both math and literacy in a daily routine that shows students how to apply their new knowledge to every day life. My students learn that in first grade we respect the classroom environment in which we learn. Materials including supplies are valuable to our success and the environment in which we learn is a direct representation of our abilities and new knowledge. The space in my classroom designated to Calendar should be organized and vibrant in order to facilitate student participation and leadership skills with their peers. This calendar is interactive and colorful to help us learn how we structure our daily, weekly and monthly schedules.
This project is incredibly important to my students and our classroom.
Your help will transform a chalkboard calendar into a vibrant station of learning and development. Thank you!
