Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school district is focusing on student-centered learning. Flexible seating is one way my students can take charge of their learning. They can use what works best for their learning needs. I am hoping to add flexible seating like floor cushions so we can use the empty spaces in our classroom for learning. I also think that the lap desks would work well for this as it allows the kids a workspace while also being able to move about the room. This really helps during independent work time because my students can move about the room and feel comfortable while still being able to focus on their learning. I am hoping to add multiple types of flexible seating so my students can use their voices and choice. In addition to adding flexible seating, I am working to grow my library so that my students can have an array of books that cover their many different interests and their ever-growing reading levels! I can use guided reading books to support my readers to become fluent readers. I believe the items in this project can help my students grow in their independence and their reading.
