Classroom Basics to Create a Colorful and Organized Science Space

Help me give my students 24 packs of colored pencils, 2 reams of colored paper, tape to hold together and hang up projects, and a laminating refill cartridge to create signs for lab stations.

My Students

Seeing students excited about science has been the greatest gift since joining DonorsChoose.org. Your donations make hands-on learning and inclusion a reality in my classroom!

We are a rural, low-income school district surrounded by farmland, which many students live and work on.

Many of my students are tactile or kinesthetic learners who enjoy being able to get out of their desks, move around, work with their hands, experiment, and create things. I also have a unique group of learners with special needs who often require modified instruction to achieve success in our science class.

My Project

My student scientists are eager to learn through hands-on experiments, such as using microscopes. These materials will be used during our microscope labs this school year. Colored pencils will help students create drawings of what they observe using the microscope, as well as to color-code labels on science diagrams. The laminating cartridge will be used to create water-proof lab signs so all lab supplies and stations will be labeled and students will have clear directions. Tape will be used to hang up lab signs as well as to create science models from the colored paper. My artistic students and kinesthetic learners enjoy getting to work with their hands to create things as they seem to learn best through experiments and art.

The resources provided by this project will allow my students to learn in ways suited for own unique set of needs and talents.

Students will use these materials to learn and model cellular respiration, photosynthesis, mitosis, genetics, and other complex science topics. Once created, laminated materials will be preserved for use in our science classes for years to follow.
