This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember taking care of a pet fish? Caring for a pet is a memorable childhood experience. Our classroom needs an aquarium to help my super scientists learn to care for pets, expand their knowledge of aquatic environments, and learn responsibility.

My students are wonderful, exuberant children with a love for learning.

Residing in a high-needs area, these children are of low socioeconomic status. However, the adults in my school work hard to empower these children and provide them with every experience possible. Most children have unstable home lives, while some reside in a nearby shelter. Therefore, it is our job to provide them with these necessary life lessons. This year, NYC teachers are not provided with any funding for classroom materials. The generosity of donors like you is needed more than ever!

My Project

Having a classroom aquarium will enrich the lives of students by giving them a hands-on science experience. We will learn how to care for many different types of fish. We will also learn about keeping a cleanly environment, different types of fish food, and different types of plants that exist in an aquarium. We will address the daily needs of the aquarium by creating a realistic habitat for marine animals. The aquarium will also foster responsibility, build a connection to the classroom, serve as a motivator, and be something for the children to love. The aquarium will be a wonderful addition to my class of lifelong learners. The students will use interact with the aquarium on a daily basis.

A class pet can be an invaluable experience for elementary school children.

By having an aquarium in the classroom, the students will be able to compare and contrast aquarium habitats with natural marine habitats, discuss potential problems that arise when marine animals are kept in aquariums, and learn responsibility. Having a classroom aquarium will have a broad impact on student learning. Your donation will be a huge difference throughout the whole school year for my super scientists!
