My Students

My students are a great bunch of kids. The students in my class are fourth graders. It is a learning time for all of us. We are adapting to being back in class together during a pandemic.

My students come to school to learn, in person.

Many come from underprivileged homes and find the school to be their safe place. I want the best for the kids in my class. The students come from a mixture of different backgrounds and have come together to make a true family.

My Project

I would like to do the novel study, Hatchet, with my students because it talks about survival of a boy in the wilderness. It will tie into our study of the United States and the climate and the terrain of the area. I want my students to be able to visualize the story from the perspective of the boy who is stranded and how he has to rely on himself and what he knows in order to survive. We will make a shadow board and will do other educational activities along with the book.
