My Project
I have a classroom economy that I run all year long. From the moment they set foot in my room, students know that it is their job to be a good student. Just like in the real world, if they do their job, my students get a paycheck. Every Friday, I check each student’s journal to make sure they are maintaining organized notes and participating in classroom activities.
At the end of every month, I hold a class store where the students may spend their hard earned class cash.
I try to give my students a variety of options to spend their money on (snacks, fidgets, journals, pencils, play doh, balls) . Some items are worth more, as these items would be more expensive for me to purchase in real life. My students then get to work on real life skills of budgeting, shopping, and possibly choosing to save money for a bigger item at the next store. Any donation helps me supply items for the store!
