My Students

Students at our school are creative, autonomous, and vibrant individuals with SPUNK! I have never been around students that are so clever and so funny, yet so smart and empathetic at the same time. Our student body is incredibly diverse, ranging from multitudes of cultural and economic backgrounds, yet when they enter the school, they are family. They are determined, loyal, and resilient students who give so much to each other and the community.

My Project

Students at our Jr. High have lost many elective teachers this year, overwhelming our class loads. Each of my visual arts classes have 37-41 students. I want to be able to give my students a well-rounded, engaging, and DIFFERENT experience in art, outside of the traditional pencil paper work they've been doing for the past two years. With the overwhelming amount of students, my class supplies are simply not large enough for students, which leads to me having to scrap deep-learning opportunities for filler work on pencil and paper. Or, I am forced to ask many students to share several supplies at one time, without me being able to clean them, creating massive breeding grounds for germs. To keep my students safe, healthy, and ENGAGED in their artwork, having these supplies for 3D visual arts will surely enhance their learning experience. The tactile experience may excite them to learn once again after such a long-set apathy created during this pandemic and chromebook learning.
