My Students
I teach 6th grade, and in our district 6th grade is in the elementary school. My students are the top dogs in our building and love being the leaders of the school. The younger students look up to them, and I am always emphasizing the need for my kids to be good role models because all eyes are on them.
“Being a role model is the most powerful form of educating.” John Wooden
Each of my students has their own unique personality, interests, and learning styles. When we all come together in the classroom, this creates an exciting learning environment.
My Project
"With a bolt of lightning on my kicks . . .The court is SIZZLING. My sweat is DRIZZLING. Stop all that quivering. Cuz tonight I’m delivering," announces dread-locked, 12-year old Josh Bell. He and his twin brother Jordan are awesome on the court. But Josh has more than basketball in his blood, he's got mad beats, too, that tell his family's story in verse, in this fast and furious middle grade novel of family and brotherhood from Kwame Alexander."
I am hoping to purchase a class set of the current hit book 'The Crossover' so that all 6th grade students will have the chance to read it!
This book has won numerous awards and students are enthralled by the vivid illustrations and poet/rap style writing. This is a great book to draw in our reluctant readers, and those who love to read.
