This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a public elementary Title I school with approximately 400 students. The student population consists of 24% are African American, 42% Latino/Mexican, 12% White and 1% Asian. 75% are economically disadvantaged and 34% are students with disabilities. Many are from foster and single-parent families.
I envision a brighter future for them.
They are so bright and full of energy. I see great potential in my students while helping them prepare for what's ahead in their bright future with many opportunities.
My Project
My classroom is 1-to-1 library with laptops. Allowing each student to have a pair of headphones would allow me to incorporate more learning opportunities for each student. Some lessons may require them to watch a video or listen to feedback from their programming letting them know if they need to debug. We use a programs like Code.Org or Scratch to help strengthen their computer science skills. The possibilities would be endless if each student had a set of headphones.
If each student has a set of headphones that they can use with their laptops, it would allow me to set up numerous lessons and learning centers to meet each of their learning needs.
