My Project
Hi everyone! I'm excited to get a class pet this school year! This project will help cover everything we need to create a cozy habitat for our new fish friend.
I have been considering getting a pet fish since August.
I really wanted to start the year with a class pet. However, as the school year began, I realized that this year would be a challenge due to student behavior and the pet fish was going to have to wait a while. Over the past two months, I have been determined to encourage my students to follow classroom rules, focusing especially on being respectful to teachers and classmates as well as take responsibility in their learning. Several of my students lack interest in anything that has to do with learning and although I do my best to motivate them and make lessons fun and engaging, they often appear uninterested and disconnected throughout the day.
I have seen big improvement in my students' behavior and know they will continue to improve. This is why I finally made the decision to get our pet fish. They have proven to me and themselves that they are able to make positive changes. I believe that adding a class pet to our classroom (our second home) will not only teach students about the life cycle of a fish (we love science), it will also help them practice working together, being responsible, follow routines, and self motivation. I mean, who wouldn't want to be the student responsible of caring for our pet fish?
My students are special because they are bright bilingual learners, and I have so much hope for their future education. Nothing would make me happier than giving my students this experience and helping them create lasting memories.
